about raise wildflowers

Raise Wildflowers was founded by Jerrica Sannes in 2020 with the dream of creating a community of mothers and educators who are passionate about supporting play, protecting childhood, and raising kind, happy, and resilient children.

Meet Jerrica

I hold an MEd in Early Childhood Curriculum & Instruction, a BS in Family & Child Development, and an AS in Early Childhood Education. I have over 15 years of professional experience working with young children and I was formerly the proud owner of a successful Reggio-Inspired Toddler School in Southern California.

Mid-pandemic, I began noticing my three-year-old son exhibiting some challenging behaviors in response to certain popular children’s tv shows. I started researching the effects of screen-time and overstimulation on early brain development, sharing my observations on Instagram, and eventually creating my popular free course: The TV Detox.

As a Child Development Specialist, my passion lies in play and high-quality early childhood education. Although I feel the screen-time topic is incredibly important for parents and educators alike, I am not particularly passionate about children’s television, nor do I consider myself an expert on screen-time. I am simply a messenger on this topic.

I’m sharing free information that has helped my family and so many others, in hopes that it may help yours as well.

I believe that a decrease in play and an increase in screen-time go hand-in-hand.

My goal is to empower parents and educators to support unstructured play, social and emotional development, and hands-on learning - to do less while raising kind, happy and resilient children. I advocate for protecting play and child.

I currently live in Southern California with my husband, our three children (7, 5 & 1), and our golden doodle. I enjoy sunshine, photography, durable plants, good food, hot yoga, and adventures that begin with iced coffee.

I strive to limit my own screen use while also acknowledging and appreciating this unique opportunity to connect with other mothers and educators around the globe.
