mother with me

  • Back in the trenches of 2020, I had a epiphany that minimal amounts of certain popular children’s TV shows were leading to meltdowns, hyperactivity, and aggression in my then 3 year old son. Upon diving into the research on screen-time and young brains and adjusting our screen-time habits, we watched our little guy transform and mellow before our eyes.

If you’re tired of relentless meltdowns, sleepless nights, and endless behavioral challenges, I made this completely free course just for you.

Discover your child’s baseline temperament, replace screen-time with free play, and begin making empowered decisions about early screen-time.

    Let’s do this

  • Do you ever feel like, if only you could do more and be ‘better’, you could maybe, just maybe, be the parent you always hoped you would be? I have good news for you: Young children thrive when parents do less. It’s true!

I’m talking less expensive activities, less Pinterest crafts, less lengthy chats about feelings and emotions, and certainly less playing together.

When we’re able to release control, allow time for boredom, prioritize meaningful connection, and delight in our children, we can thrive while they naturally develop into capable, kind, happy, and resilient humans.

    I want to thrive.

  • Are you worried about your little one falling ‘behind’? Are you tired of scouring the internet for fun and playful learning activities? Do you feel overwhelmed by the pressure to fit enough learning into your child’s day?

Do you hope to cultivate a love for reading, ignite a passion for learning, and build a strong academic foundation for your school-aged child?

Carry our ‘do less’ parenting philosophy into early childhood education by learning how to support true play-based, child-led learning (not to be confused with playful adult-directed learning) for ages 2-9.

    Learn how to:

    • Avoid common and potentially detrimental early learning mistakes

    • Teach reading, writing, math, science & history without screens

    • Support interest-based learning from toddlerhood through Grade 3

    Teach Me

  • If raising children feels impossible, we’re probably trying too hard. I hope to illustrate, through essays and story-telling, how simply trusting childhood can empower children and their grown-ups to flourish.

This Substack publication is where I:

    • Explore honest and imperfect motherhood through a positive lens

    • Document and analyze my observations of children and their grown-ups in the wild

    • Offer glimpses into our family’s unique approach to early learning and homeschooling

    • Discuss child development, early education, and common sense parenting insights

    • Review parenting books — ranging from popular to hidden gems to hard pass

    • Talk about our favorite (and maybe least favorite) children’s books
